About Bond Street

Bond Street is making it possible for small businesses to get the financing they need at rates they deserve.  We’re building an online marketplace where small business owners can apply to finance their growth plans, and get financing in days, not weeks or months.  We believe fairer lending can be achieved through transparency – we are clear about the transaction fees we charge as a platform provider, and thus our interests are aligned with borrowers who want the best rate available as well as lenders who want a healthy risk-adjusted return.  We are excited about the power of newly available data sources to assist pricing and credit decisions, and to help pave the best path forward when borrowers run into trouble.

Software Engineer

As part of the core Bond Street team, you’ll build the software platform that enables origination and application, credit evaluation, funding, and account servicing.  You’ll design user experiences far superior to conventional, paper-based lending practices.  You will source and collect financial data and refine models used to evaluate credit risk and to price loans.  And you’ll design dashboards used to visualize portfolio performance down to the level of individual borrower health.  We’re looking for extreme self-starters with a proven track record of remarkable productivity.  As part of an early startup team, your willingness to pitch in even with the most unlikely (and unpredictable) of tasks will be crucial.  Most importantly, you should share our passion for helping the small businesses you encounter every day realize their dreams of growth and greater service to their communities.

Requirements:

  • Successful track record having built multi-system architectures -- marketplaces in particular are a plus.
  • Deep familiarity with web-oriented technologies and protocols (definitely including (but not limited to) HTTP; JavaScript; apache, nginx, or other high performance web server; any of the various web frameworks
  • Thorough understanding of database-backed services; can speak to issues of concurrency and durability.
  • Understanding of, and healthy respect for, security practices for sensitive customer data, including (but not limited to) developing security policy, the use of encryption and issues of key management, and methods/tools for security testing and auditing.
  • You advocate for best practices in software: testing, patterns/antipatterns, continuous integration/deployment, beer.
